Simpsonville Police Partner with Animal Care for Operation Fur-ever Home

May 11, 2026

The Simpsonville Police Department is taking a hands-on approach to community service by helping local shelter animals find their final destination. In a new partnership with Greenville County Animal Care, the department has launched Operation Fur-ever Home, a monthly adoption event hosted right at the police station.

The initiative takes place on the first Friday of every month from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During these events, the Simpsonville Police Department headquarters transforms into a temporary satellite adoption center, featuring several “adoptable pups” looking for a fresh start with local families.

Free Adoptions for the Community

In an effort to remove barriers to pet ownership and alleviate overcrowding at the county shelter, all adoptions during the event are completely free. The department noted that while the adoption fee is waived, the pets still come with a full suite of medical preparations.

According to the program guidelines, each adoptable dog includes:

  • All necessary vaccinations

  • Standard health tests

  • Any required medical treatments

Strengthening Community Ties

“Operation Fur-ever Home” serves a dual purpose: finding homes for animals in need and providing a positive, relaxed environment for residents to interact with local law enforcement officers. By bringing the dogs to Simpsonville, the department makes it more convenient for residents in the southern part of the county to meet potential new family members without traveling to the main Greenville shelter.

Greenville County Animal Care, a “no-kill” facility, relies heavily on these community partnerships to maintain its mission. The influx of monthly adoptions through the police department helps ensure that more animals are moved into homes rather than long-term shelter stays.

Residents interested in adding a four-legged friend to their home are encouraged to stop by the Simpsonville Police Department on the next scheduled first Friday.
