Sing-Along Messiah set for Dec. 22

December 12, 2014

December 22 | at 7 p.m. in the historic sanctuary of the Washington Street United Methodist Church

Columbia churches and choral groups are inviting the public to join them Dec. 22 for a performance of Handel’s “Messiah.”

The audience can sing along – musical scores will be available free or charge – or just sit back and experience the joy of this holiday classic.

The presentation is an annual tradition, in its 12th consecutive year under conductor Dr. Lillian Quackenbush. This year’s soloists will be soprano Maria Beery, alto Sara Beth Shelton, tenor Michael Gray and bass Eric Kesler. A 20-member professional orchestra and a core choir of singers representing groups across the city will perform as well.

Admission is free, though donations are accepted. The performance will be at 7 p.m. in the historic sanctuary of the Washington Street United Methodist Church at the corner of Washington and Mario Streets.
