September concert to benefit the LRADAC Foundation Recovery Scholarship Fund

Platinum-selling band Sister Hazel returns to the Midlands for LRADAC Foundation’s inaugural Rock for Recovery concert presented by Elliott Davis. Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund programs that benefit individuals and families impacted by addiction.

The concert will take place on September 26, 2019, from 5 to 10 p.m. at BullStreet District’s newest music venue, Central Energy, located at 2030 Gregg St in Columbia, S.C.  Complimentary appetizers and mocktails will be served during the event. Tickets are $40 and will be available for sale July 1 at rock4recovery.eventbrite.com.

In 2017, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health reported that 19.7 million Americans (age 12 and older) battled a substance use disorder. LRADAC Foundation’s priority is to heal families by making treatment accessible and affordable to residents of Lexington and Richland counties. The concert is a welcome addition to the foundation’s lineup of Rock for Recovery initiatives taking place during September, National Recovery Month.

“There are no words to describe the outpouring of love and support we have felt going into our fifth annual fundraising event,” said LRADAC Foundation Executive Director Kaytee Watson. “The observance, which started with volunteers rocking in rocking chairs along Columbia’s Main Street, is morphing into a much bigger movement that we can all be a part of.”

Proceeds from ticket sales, merchandise and an open auction will be donated to the LRADAC Foundation Recovery Scholarship Fund. Scholarships allow persons facing financial hardship to apply for funding to cover the cost of treatment services at LRADAC. Since 2011, the LRADAC Foundation has awarded over $480,00.00 in scholarship funding for individuals and families who have completed LRADAC services.

“At Elliott Davis, we’re committed to making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work,” said Scott McClelland, shareholder for Elliott Davis. “We’re thrilled to sponsor this unique event and help support all the meaningful work LRADAC is doing to touch lives throughout the Midlands.”

About Sister Hazel:

Originating from Gainesville, FL, Sister Hazel is comprised of five gifted, seasoned musicians whose well-spring of natural talent has been called “one of the Top 100 Most Influential Independent Performers of the last 15 years” by Performing Songwriter Magazine. Song “All for You,” topped the adult alternative charts during the summer of 1997 and the success propelled their album to platinum status.  Since then, the band has become firmly established not only in rock and alternative music, but now in country with four back-to-back Billboard Top Country album chart entries. Living up to their fan-centered reputation, the band was a pioneer in the themed cruise industry by co-founding “The Rock Boat” and annually hosts events like the “Hazelnut Hang,” and “Camp Hazelnut” that focuses on creating unique experiences and interacting with the fans. Sister Hazel has been equally attentive to connecting with their audience through social media having amassed over a million social followers. In addition to the events and touring, the band also gives back with “Lyrics For Life.” Founded by singer Ken Block, the charity unites musicians and celebrities for concerts and auctions to benefit cancer research and patient-care charities.
