Sistercare launches Young Professionals Council
October 22, 2026Inaugural council to support organization’s mission against domestic violence
Sistercare has launched a Young Professionals Council (YPC) in celebration of its 45th anniversary and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Young Professionals Council brings together emerging community leaders who will increase awareness about domestic violence and advance Sistercare’s mission throughout the Midlands. “We are excited to welcome the next generation of leaders who will help educate our community about domestic violence and support survivors,” said Leah Wicevic, CEO of Sistercare. “Sistercare is devoted to building safer futures for all.”
The inaugural member class of 2028 will serve a two-year term as Sistercare ambassadors and advocates for change. Council members will participate in fundraising campaigns, strengthen community partnerships and oversee service projects.
Members will host an annual awareness event and provide perspectives and insight to Sistercare on future community outreach and advocacy efforts.
Local communities will have the opportunity to connect with council members through informal events such as “YPC Happy Hours” and “YPC Learn & Connect Gatherings.” Members will meet with Sistercare staff, community leaders and subject-matter experts to understand local needs and deepen their understanding of domestic violence.
The Young Professionals Council is an engagement and advisory group of Sistercare, operating under Sistercare’s Board of Directors. Please reach out to Leah Wicevic to learn more about now to get involved with the Council.
