November 16, 2012

COLUMBIA, SC – November 16, 2012 – The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded 24 Caritas grants, totaling $65,000, to nonprofit and faith-based organizations meeting the basic needs of the underserved in South Carolina.

Caritas grants are for organizations providing outreach services to the poor and marginalized. They are one-year grants designed for organizations with annual budgets of less than $600,000.

“This funding will support these organizations as they address, daily, those facing situational or crisis poverty,” said Mike McCabe, board chair of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina.

Caritas grants are up to $5,000, and are awarded twice a year. Organizations wishing to apply for funding should visit the Foundation’s website, sistersofcharitysc.com, for information on the application process. The next Caritas grant application deadline is April 2, 2013.
