Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina Promotes Tamara Peterson to Program Director

October 30, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently announced the development of a Kinship Care Initiative in South Carolina and released a Research Mini-Brief to the public during the month of September, 2014. Research has shown that kinship care is a better alternative than placing youth in foster care and yields higher rates of permanency. Due to this growing population within our state the Foundation is announcing the promotion of Tamara Peterson to the position of Program Director to oversee the development and implementation of the Kinship Care Initiative.

Peterson received both a bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology and a Master of Social Work with a concentration in administration and community organization from the University of South Carolina. She has experience in research and evaluation at the University of South Carolina and The Center for Child and Family Studies. Peterson joined the Foundation in 2011 and as part of leading the new initiative around Kinship Care, will staff the newly appointed Advisory Council as well as oversee the other important aspects of the program.
