Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorney Steve Farrar Named President Of Federation Of Defense And Corporate Counsel

GREENVILLE, SC – Smith Moore Leatherwood announces that attorney Steve Farrar has been elected President of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), an invitation-only membership organization that consists of accomplished defense attorneys, corporate counsel and industry executives who have achieved professional distinction during their careers. Farrar will serve as President for one year and move to Chairman of the Board in August, 2016.

The FDCC is an international legal organization dedicated to promoting the knowledge, fellowship, and professionalism of its members as they pursue the course of a balanced justice system and represent those in need of a defense in civil lawsuits. Membership is limited to select attorneys who have displayed achievement in their field and leadership in the practice of law.

“This appointment epitomizes Steve’s exemplary accomplishments and contributions to the practice of law. Steve is recognized nationally as a leader, and I know he will serve FDCC well,” said Julie Earp, Managing Partner.

As president of the Federation, Farrar will travel extensively as an ambassador for the organization and civil defense attorneys to help promote the fundamentals of the Federation. Among his goals for the coming year he hopes to increase diversity within the membership and identify and implement strategies that will assure the FDCC’s continued relevancy as the practice of law continues to changes.

Farrar is a trial lawyer and partner in the firm’s Greenville office. His practice focuses on complex legal issues, including complicated business litigation, professional liability defense and major products liability issues. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law and was recently named a Top 25 2015 South Carolina Super Lawyers® for his work in professional liability and recognized by Chambers and Partners for his work in litigation.
