Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorney Tami McKnew Appointed to The Nature Conservancy’s Board of Trustees

GREENVILLE, SC – June 6, 2011 – Smith Moore Leatherwood is proud to announce that attorney Tami McKnew has been appointed to serve on The Nature Conservancy’s Board of Trustees for the South Carolina chapter.  Practicing in the firm’s Greenville, S.C. office, McKnew has been involved with the environmental organization for over eight years, previously having served as Chair of the South Carolina chapter and as the first Trustee Liaison to the National Board of The Nature Conservancy.

“The Nature Conservancy’s mission is critical, and its focus, dedication and effectiveness in tackling that mission are commendable,” said McKnew.  “I am proud and excited to serve once again on the Nature Conservancy’s Board of Trustees and to more actively work to protect the natural environment for all of us.”

McKnew is actively involved in numerous other organizations, currently serving on the Boards of the United Way of Greenville, Clement’s Kindness Fund for the Children, the Priester Foundation, the Greenville Museum Association Board, the South Carolina Institute for Child Success and the Attorneys Liability Protection Society.

McKnew served on the Founding Board of the South Carolina Women Lawyer’s Association, has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for Franchise Law from 2007-2011, and has been honored with the Metropolitan Art Council’s Hearts in the Arts Award and the Women Making History Award.

McKnew’s law practice focuses in the areas of antitrust, franchising and dealerships, and intellectual property. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara; her master’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles; and her law degree from Northeastern University’s School of Law.
