GREENVILLE, SC – July 26, 2011 – Smith Moore Leatherwood is proud to announce that Greenville attorney Tami McKnew has been nominated to the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Franchising.  Nominees will be elected onto the Governing Committee at the organization’s annual program on Friday, October 21, 2011, in Baltimore, Maryland.

“I am honored to be chosen for the ABA Forum on Franchising’s Governing Committee. The Forum on Franchising has been important to my professional development, and I look forward to serving both the organization and my fellow attorneys,” said Mc Knew. “The Forum’s commitment to high quality educational opportunities and development of franchise professionals is impressive, and I’m humbled to be included among those who are privileged to help direct the organization.”

The Forum annual program draws between 900 and 1,000 lawyers, and provides a wide variety of workshops geared toward a range of attorneys, from beginning franchise lawyers to more seasoned franchise practitioners. The mission of the Forum on Franchising is to be the preeminent forum for the study and discussion of the legal aspects of franchising.

“Tami’s nomination is truly an accomplishment,” said Rob Marcus, Chairman of Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Management Committee.  “The Forum on Franchising is the most influential franchise law organization, and its Governing Committee members are well known and respected.”
