June 27, 2012

Addition makes four new hires in six months

CHARLESTON, SC – June 27, 2012 – Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP has recently expanded its Charleston office with the addition of Matt Moore to the office’s Commercial Real Estate Practice Group.  Moore is the fourth addition in six months, following the arrival of Michael J. Hickerson, G.P. Diminich and Halsey Schreier to the Charleston office, which opened one year ago.

“Matt’s arrival has rounded out our office’s Commercial Real Estate Practice Group and allows us to offer a full range of Commercial Real Estate services to our local clients,” said Bobby Pearce, co-partner in charge of the office. “Our office opened one year ago with the intention of growing strategically, and that is exactly what we have done and will continue to do.  We have added four excellent attorneys to our team in the last six months, doubling our presence in Charleston and expanding our Commercial Real Estate presence.”

Moore works with many clients whose matters span the region, and will work periodically in the firm’s Atlanta office in addition to his time in Charleston.

Moore received his B.B.A. from Texas A&M University and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  His practice focuses on representing local, regional and national developers and lenders with the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of Commercial Real Estate. He assists developers and lenders on matters such as contract negotiations and loan documentation, multi-parcel assemblages, borrower and lender representation in interim and permanent financing, entity formation, drafting of restrictive covenants, development agreements and builder contracts, and the issuance and/or review of title insurance and handling of title related matters.

Moore is an approved attorney and agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and First American Title Insurance Company. He is admitted to practice law in North and South Carolina, Colorado, Georgia and Texas, and is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Charleston and Berkeley County Bar Associations, and the Palmetto Land Title Association.
