“We wanted our website to reflect the firm’s culture of innovation, collaboration and excellent client service,” explains Managing Partner Julie Earp. “We began the process by identifying the primary reasons clients and potential clients visit law firm websites. Every design decision we made was informed by that research. We focused on making navigation through the website intuitive so that it would be easy to find attorney information and specific services while also showcasing useful, practical tips offered by our lawyers.”

A task force of attorneys from across the firm’s service areas and offices provided direction with regard to functionality and design components, such as robust search features and a mega menu navigation structure. Rob Kidwell, chair of the firm’s marketing committee noted, “Attorney biographies are very important to potential clients. We ensured that our bios functioned like standalone websites, allowing visitors to hone in quickly on the specific information they are seeking.”

Integration with social media, LinkedIn in particular, was a priority as well. “LinkedIn is about relationships and trusted referrals,” explains Kidwell, “which is why we chose to focus on that platform. Visitors can identify whether they have contacts in common with an attorney, information that may help them to decide whether to engage the attorney as a trusted advisor.”
