SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar will raise money for the learn-to-swim program through the end of May

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – From Monday, April 20 through the end of May, SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar will be partnering with local charity organization Lowcountry Aquatic Project Swimming (LAPS) to raise money through the restaurant’s Kitchen Karma program. LAPS provides underprivileged local children with the opportunity to learn how to swim for free, thus building a community of swimmers who can enjoy the environment in which they live. The funds raised through Kitchen Karma will help provide these children with transportation, instruction, and swim aids.

“Swimming is a sport that’s very near and dear to my heart, so it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to help deserving children in our community learn and experience swimming for themselves,” said David Clark, owner of SOL.

Through its Kitchen Karma program, SOL partners with a local charity organization for a period of about five to eight weeks, and donates $1 from every featured Kitchen Karma menu item sold in that time period to the partnering charity. The featured items for the LAPS partnership include the Hibiscus Margarita and the South by Southwest Shrimp.

Before working with LAPS, SOL’s most recent Kitchen Karma partnership was with Louie’s Kids’ Under and Over the Bridge Program, which was designed as a way for families of all physical fitness levels to come together, work out, and get ready for the Cooper River Bridge Run. Over the five-week period, SOL raised a total of $1,072 for Louie’s Kids. Since its inception in late 2013, SOL’s Kitchen Karma program has raised more than $13,000 for local charities.
