SOL Partners with Ronald McDonald House throughout the Holiday Season

November 30, 2015

MOUNT PLEASANTSC – Throughout this holiday season, SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Mt. Pleasant will be raising money to help families whose children are being treated for serious illnesses. For the next six weeks, SOL’s Kitchen Karma program will partner with The Ronald McDonald House of Charleston (RMHC), a charity that offers a support system for families with children who are receiving extensive medical treatment in Charleston.  RMHC provides a “Home-away-from-home” so that the family can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.

“We are so happy to have the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group,” said David Clark, owner of SOL. “This great cause allows families to stay together during an incredibly difficult time. Without the Ronald McDonald House, many families couldn’t afford to stay in Charleston while their child is being treated and as a parent, that breaks my heart.”

SOL raises these funds through its Kitchen Karma program where the restaurant pairs with a local charity to raise funds over a period of six to eight weeks. With this program, SOL chooses a featured dish and a featured cocktail and donates $1 from every featured item purchased at SOL within that fundraising period. The featured items for RMHC partnership include Steak Skewers and the seasonal Cranberry Spice Margarita, which is a holiday favorite. SOL began the Kitchen Karma program when the restaurant opened in the fall of 2013, and since then they have donated over $21,000 to local charities.
