South Carolina Charities, Inc. (SCCI) welcomed Matt Sharkey as its new director of sales. In his new role, Sharkey is responsible for implementing sales and marketing strategies to identify new opportunities and grow existing relationships for the BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation. The announcement comes at an exciting time as the tournament is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary next year. Since its inception, the BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation has generated tremendous economic impact across the region while showcasing the Upstate to an international TV audience.

Previously, Sharkey was program director for The First Tee of the Upstate where he managed lead coaches, monitored participant registration and oversaw the record growth of the Upstate chapter. He also served as a course director for the BMW Charity Pro-Am in 2018 and 2019. Sharkey spent seven years as a sales executive for The Cliffs Communities, where he was a top producer in the mountain region and led the organization in developer sales. He brings extensive golf experience to the team as a former professional golfer who played on the Korn Ferry Tour from 1996-2004.

“Matt has years of sales experience and a passion for the Upstate community and the sport of golf, all of which will help us continue to take the BMW Charity Pro-Am to new heights,” said Bob Nitto, president of South Carolina Charities, Inc. “We are very pleased to have a veteran like Matt join our team and look forward to his contributions to the tournament.”

The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation is the only tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Korn Ferry Tour professionals in a four-day better-ball competition. Since 2001, the tournament has donated more than $13.6 million to numerous Upstate SC non-profit organizations.
