South Carolina educators gain real-world manufacturing insights through Michelin plant tour

The South Carolina Council on Economic Education (SC Economics) recently provided a unique professional learning experience for South Carolina educators through an exclusive tour of Michelin’s US7 manufacturing facility on Thursday, July 16, 2026. Made possible through the generous sponsorship of Strategic Development Group, the experience gave teachers an up-close look at one of South Carolina’s leading advanced manufacturing operations.
During the visit, educators observed the manufacturing process behind Michelin’s giant mining tires and gained valuable insight into the technology, precision, and teamwork required to produce these world-class products. The tour also featured conversations with employees from across the facility, who shared their career paths, discussed opportunities for professional growth within Michelin, and highlighted the company’s culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
