South Carolina ETV and Public Radio receives 13 awards from Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas
November 16, 2020South Carolina ETV (SCETV) and Public Radio (SC Public Radio) this weekend received seven first place awards and six second place awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC). The awards were presented during a virtual ceremony held Saturday, November 14 at noon.
The seven first-place award recipients were:
- In the Radio Breaking News category: Charleston Business Owners Face Violence by Victoria Hansen
- In the Radio General News category: Charleston Restaurants & Bars Try to Survive by Victoria Hansen
- In the Radio Hard News Feature category: Charleston Teen at High Risk for COVID-19 Finds Hope by Victoria Hansen
- In the Radio Health/Medicine category: Rock Steady Boxing Helps Parkinson’s Patients by Tut Underwood
- In the Radio Light Feature category: South Carolina Home to Several Charming Southern Accents by Tut Underwood
- In the Radio Series category: Protecting Gullah Culture by Victoria Hansen
- In the Radio Sports category: Origins of the Carolina-Clemson Rivalry by Linda Nuñez
The six second-place award recipients were:
- In the Television Special Report category – This Week in South Carolina: The First in the South Primary by Aimee Crouch, Gavin Jackson and Renée Layson
- In the Radio Breaking News category: Rock Hill Marches for George Floyd by Scott Morgan
- In the Radio Consumer/Economic category: Clemson Students Start Business to Save ‘Mom & Pop’ by Scott Morgan
- In the Radio Education category: Greenville Tech Initiative Takes On African-American Student Retention by Scott Morgan
- In the Radio Entertainment category: Songwriter made his mark in Nashville by Tut Underwood
- In the Radio Hard News Feature category: Rock Hill’s Homeless Services Adjust for COVID-19 by Scott Morgan
In total, the SC Public Radio team received a dozen awards during Saturday’s virtual ceremony. Reaching more than 300,000 listeners each week, the network offers two formats – News/Talk and News/Music – and operates eight transmitters across the state.
