South Carolina Federal announces 2020 scholarship winners

April 29, 2020

South Carolina Federal Credit Union announced the winners of its 2020 scholarship program. After receiving more than 1,000 applications from college-bound students in South Carolina, the credit union has selected 12 winners who will receive up to $12,000 toward their college expenses.

In their applications, students were asked to write about how they plan to use their education to do more for their communities. With majors ranging from international business to psychology and nursing to secondary education, this year’s winners shared their ambitious goals and detailed plans for how to make those goals a reality.

“Our scholarship program is always a highlight of our year. As we read through the 2020 applications, we were incredibly impressed at how hardworking and motivated these individuals are,” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “This year’s winners are already making a difference in their communities, and we have no doubt that their futures are bright.”

Applicants were reviewed by internal and external judges, who evaluated each student’s GPA and course load, volunteer activity, recommendation letter and written essay.
