South Carolina Federal announces new Board Chairman

South Carolina Federal Credit Union has named Richard Buckner Chairman of the Board following its 2019 membership meeting.

This is Buckner’s second term leading the credit union’s Board of Directors, having served as Board Chair from April 2005 to April 2007. Buckner also served as Chair of the credit union’s Supervisory Committee from 1997 to 1998.

“Rick has served on our volunteer Board of Directors for 20 years and has long been a valued member of the South Carolina Federal family,” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “We trust his tenured insight, sustained commitment and innovative problem solving approach to best serve our employee base and membership.”

Outside of his work with the credit union, Buckner serves as the Chairman of the Economic Development Action Committee for the City of Goose Creek. He was appointed Honorary Commander of the Charleston AFB in 2008.

Buckner lives in Goose Creek with his wife. He has two sons and seven grandchildren.
