South Carolina Federal CEO Scott Woods and former Board Chairman Mary L. Whited pose with this year’s scholarship winners.

South Carolina Federal Credit Union awarded $50,000 in scholarships to students attending colleges in South Carolina this fall.

Scholarships, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, were awarded to 12 students, six of whom are attending traditional colleges and universities and six who are attending technical schools.

Applicants were evaluated based on their grade point average, volunteer experience and recommendation letters. All applicants also submitted an essay on how they plan to use their education to Do More Together in the state of South Carolina.

“We believe in Doing More Together, and helping hard working students make college more affordable is just one way we bring that mindset to life,” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “We were particularly impressed with this year’s winners and we know that they have bright futures ahead of them making a positive impact in our communities.”

The South Carolina Federal Credit Union scholarship program is now in its 9th year of providing educational funds and embodying the credit union philosophy of people helping people. To learn more about this year’s winners, visit https://www.scfederal.org/Connect/Smpl/Scholarships/winners-2019.

Applications for the 2020 Scholarship Program will open in January.
