South Carolina Federal to merge with Health Facilities Federal Credit Union

December 9, 2019

South Carolina Federal Credit Union announced an upcoming merger with Health Facilities Federal Credit Union, after an affirmative membership vote held November 21, 2019.

South Carolina Federal, at nearly $2 billion in assets, has been serving members throughout the state for over 80 years, and the people of Florence since 2016.

“We are very proud of our presence in Florence and are thrilled to deepen our community reach by merging with Health Facilities, a strong and trusted local entity,” said Scott Woods, President and CEO of South Carolina Federal. “Florence is a thriving town and we are committed to providing the best service to our soon to be 10,000 members here.”

The merger is effective March 2, 2020 and will retain both Health Facilities locations and all employees. Health Facilities CEO, Robert Harris, will continue in the role of City Executive.

“The leadership of Health Facilities believes this merger is an opportunity to provide more convenient, competitively priced products and services to our members, while keeping pace with the growth of Florence,” said Harris. “We look forward to the future and serving both the PeeDee region and state of South Carolina.”

As a result of the merger, members will enjoy enhanced technology along with additional loan offerings, fee-free* mobile banking, toll-free contact center services and access to over 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs, via the Allpoint Network. Business services, expanded investment options and a full complement of insurance** products will also be available to the Florence community.
