South Carolina Partners with LearningExpress to Provide Online Career and Academic Preparation Resources to State Residents

Agreement Marks 15th Statewide Contract for LearningExpress

NEW YORK, NY – September 10, 2009 – LearningExpress, LLC, the leading provider of job and career advancement, test-preparation, and skill-building programs, announced today that they have entered into a strategic partnership with the South Carolina State Library to implement the LearningExpress Library™ online learning platform on a statewide basis. South Carolina residents, including the growing number of patrons seeking career guidance due to the current economic climate, now have free and unlimited access to over 800 career-oriented and academic resources and over 150 e-books through any of the public, academic, and school libraries within the state.

One of the South Carolina State Library’s highest priorities is helping South Carolinians go back to work. The State Library is pleased to be providing access to LearningExpress Library and other online library resources to all of its citizens. All of South Carolina’s libraries are supporting workforce development. Public libraries, now seeing double digit increases in circulation, door count, and computer usage, are particularly on the frontline of this effort, says Amy Duernberger, Electronic Resources Management Librarian for the South Carolina State Library.

The LearningExpress Library™ online learning platform, geared toward both adults and students, provides the most up-to-date skill-building and test-preparation resources available. With LearningExpress Library, patrons can prepare for a wide array of career certification and licensing exams in high-growth fields such as education, allied healthcare, civil service, and the military, as well as academic tests such as the GED, SAT, ACT, and GMAT. For job seekers, LearningExpress Library features a robust job search and career skills help center, which guides patrons through the steps of the job search process, from creating a great resume and honing interviewing techniques to improving business communications skills. The platform includes hundreds of interactive skill-building courses in reading, writing, and math for all ages. The innovative platform also includes interactive, self-paced study, instant scoring, and diagnostic feedback, and can be accessed from any computer that has an Internet connection.
