South Carolina Plastics LLC locating new facility in Greenville County

COLUMBIA, SC – October 3, 2012 – South Carolina Plastics LLC, asubsidiary of Carolina Technical Plastics Corporation, a maker ofplastic automotive components, today announced plans to establish a newfacility in Greenville County. The $12 million investment is expected togenerate 119 new jobs.

We are excited about moving forward with plans for our new facilityin Greenville County. South Carolina offers us an excellent businessclimate and a close proximity to customers, as well as a talentedworkforce. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state andlocal officials, said Martin Kean, vice president of Carolina TechnicalPlastics Corporation and South Carolina Plastics LLC.

South Carolina Plastics LLC is a subsidiary of Carolina TechnicalPlastics, a part of the Wirthwein AG Group with headquarters inCreglingen, Germany. The company will establish a new manufacturingoperation at 800 Woodside Avenue in Fountain Inn, subject to successfulcompletion of due diligence activities and acquisition of the GreenvilleCounty site.  The Greenville Area Development Corporation, the county’seconomic development arm, assisted the company in its new facilitysearch.

The company creates complex automotive components such as doormodules, door handles, cable drum housings and covers for seat belts,among other components for the automotive industry as well as the HomeAppliance, Medical and Rail industries. The new facility is expected tobe operational by February 2013.

Today’s announcement by South Carolina Plastics LLC builds on ourreputation in the automotive club. The automotive industry continues tobe a driver of economic growth in the Palmetto State’s economy and a keypart of our overall manufacturing sector, said Secretary of CommerceBobby Hitt.

South Carolina Plastics LLC’s decision to locate its new productionfacility here in Greenville County is welcome news, noted H.G. ButchKirven, a director of the Greenville Area Development Corporation andchairman of Greenville County Council. Their decision to locate hereaffirms that this area’s burgeoning advanced manufacturing clustercontinues to grow and thrive, and should serve as a magnet for moresuppliers, more talented individuals and more good paying jobs for ourcommunity.
