South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) receive SC Housing award for disaster relief program

South Carolina REALTORS® (SCR) today received the South Carolina Housing Authority’s 2017 Housing Development Award at the Palmetto Affordable Housing Forum. The SC Housing Authority presents the Housing Development Award annually to a person or organization who was instrumental in creating and/or supporting affordable workforce housing, implementing housing related programs or helping others solve housing problems.

The association received the award for its work in providing mortgage and rent relief to victims of last year’s Hurricane Matthew and the 2015 flood. SCR raised and distributed a combined $562,000 to 780 families across South Carolina following the disasters. SCR President David Phillips along with Incoming SCR President Laura Derrick, received the award from SC Housing Authority Executive Director Valarie Williams, in a ceremony emceed by WLTX news anchor Darci Strickland.
