South Carolina School Counselor Advocate of the Year

The Palmetto State School Counselor Association is pleased to announce our 2020 School Counselor Advocate of the Year, Kailanya “Kai” Bradley

Bradley, Principal of Pelion Middle School in Lexington School District One recognizing the importance of school counselors in her building. 

She believes school counselors are most effective when engaged with students and not encumbered with duties such as testing. She has worked to ensure staffing to meet the needs of students. She ensures that school counselors are a part of the school, by including them in the school leadership team. She supports the growth of her school counselors by budgeting funds to allow them to attend professional development opportunities.

The purpose of the Advocate of the Year Award is to recognize persons who have demonstrated their beliefs in and support of school counseling programs that have had an impact on counselors and their students at the local, state, or national level. 

The Palmetto State School Counselor Association (PSSCA) is a statewide nonprofit organization. PSSCA helps advance the profession of school counseling by assisting South Carolina school counselors with guiding their students toward academic achievement, career planning and social/emotional development in order to help today’s students become tomorrow’s productive, contributing members of society.
