South Carolina State Fair Earns International Accolades for Outstanding Marketing Efforts

January 28, 2015

State’s Premier Annual Event Also Recognized by the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) in Winning Seeding Change Grant

COLUMBIA, SC –  The 2014 South Carolina State Fair was more than just a success for fair attendees, who enjoyed a great time at the annual event. The Fair also earned national recognition from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE), for its creative communication and marketing campaign which not only promoted the fair’s offerings but also focused on building awareness for breast cancer.

The Fair was recognized for Best Marketing Campaign as well as four other communication awards.

“The Pink Fair really resonated with our community and state. This was evidenced by the crowds at the fair and the response of appreciation from our patrons. Breast cancer has, in some way, touched everyone”, said South Carolina State Fair General Manager Gary L. Goodman. The Pink Fair was a commitment to educate the community about breast cancer and early detection as well as a chance to honor and celebrate those impacted by the disease.

The Fair was also presented with one of six Seeding Change grants. The Seeding Change campaign was an industry-wide effort to highlighting how member organizations are positively impacting the communities in which they live and work. The IAFE International Convention Program Committee judged more than 50 entries, ranging from community gardens to charitable fundraising efforts, with winners selected among each fair size category and associates.

The Fair is a 12-day event held annually at the fairgrounds in Columbia during the month of October. The dates for the 2015 Fair are October 14-25.
