South Carolina Students Receive College Scholarships From Workers’ Compensation Insurer

COLUMBIA, SC – Self Insurers Fund is pleased to announce the recipients of their 2014 Scholarship Program. Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to four 2014 high school graduates and one college student. An independent panel of judges who evaluated each student’s commitment to educational excellence, community service and extracurricular activities selected scholarship recipients. This year’s scholarship recipients are:

  • Addison G. Darr of Aikenimage004
  • Matthew G. Carter of Greenville
  • Mary M. Dyches of Chapin
  • Caroline E. Moore of Myrtle Beach
  • Elisabeth A. Speal of Spartanburg

 

“We are delighted to present college scholarships to these deserving students,” said Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman, Herb Witter. “These students have demonstrated a commitment to school involvement, scholastic accomplishment, leadership and community service. We are extremely proud of their dedication and continuous effort to work hard both inside and outside the classroom.” A celebratory scholarship dinner honoring the recipients was held on July 16 at The Palmetto Club in Columbia, South Carolina.

Addison G. Darr is a graduate of South Aiken High School and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall. She is the daughter of Robert and Diane Darr, who works at Designer Builders, a Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Hutson-Etherredge Insurance is the agency of record for Designer Builders.

Matthew G. Carter is a graduate of Greenville Senior High Academy and will attend Clemson University this fall. He is the son of Debbie and Mike Carter, owner of the Renaissance Company, a Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Home Builders Insurance Services is the agency of record for the Renaissance Company.

Mary M. Dyches is a graduate of Chapin High School and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall. She is the daughter of Mary Jo and Dalton Dyches, owner of Dyches Construction, a Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Robert Bryant and Son is the agency of record forDyches Construction.

Caroline E. Moore is a graduate of Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach and currently attends the University of Georgia. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Raymond Moore, who works at Millennium Construction, a Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Home Builders Insurance Services is the agency of record for Millennium Construction.

Elisabeth A. Speal is a graduate of Spartanburg Day School and will attend Catholic University this fall. Her parents are Michael Mallen and Christine Faulstich. She is the granddaughter of Gerhard Faulstich, owner of Bau Construction, a Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Law Insurance is the agency of record for Bau Construction.
