South Carolina teen selected as Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2016

MOBILE, AL – On Saturday, June 25, Tara Moore of Easley, S.C. was named the Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2016 and presented with a cash scholarship of $40,000 at the conclusion of the 59thDistinguished Young Women National Finals in Mobile, Ala.
Moore earned preliminary scholarship awards in the fitness, interview, talent and self expression categories as well as a $2,500 cash scholarship for being chosen as one of the 10 finalists, totaling $7,000 in additional cash scholarships. Moore amassed a total of $55,300 in cash scholarships through her participation in the Distinguished Young Women program at the local, state and national levels.
Following a selection process that began in her home state of S.C., Moore traveled to Mobile, Ala. along with 50 other state representatives to participate in community activities and prepare for the 59th annual national competition.
In addition to serving as the national representative of Distinguished Young Women for the next year, Moore will attend Clemson University and plans to become a pediatric physical therapist.
Moore attended Powdersville High School in Greenville, S.C. She is the daughter of Patty and Robert Moore.
Other participants receiving top awards in the 2016 Distinguished Young Women National Finals includes Madeleine Arnold of Highland, Utah (First Runner Up) and Anna Daniels of Madison, Miss. (Second Runner Up).
