LEXINGTON, SC – Southeastern Freight Lines, the leading provider of regional less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services, today announced that Melissa Atkins has been promoted to director of operations development in Columbia, South Carolina.

Atkins began her service at Southeastern in 2004 as an outbound support clerk in Valdosta, Georgia, where she excelled and was selected for the management training program. “Under her leadership, the scope of the department has expanded significantly, allowing Operations Development to support all 88 service centers and implement operational improvements across the organization,” said Keith Heaton, senior vice president of operations. “Melissa is very deserving of this promotion and we look forward to her exceptional contribution for many years to come.”

In her new role as director of operations development, Atkins will manage additional responsibilities, including serving as industrial engineer, equipment manager, pickup and delivery for driver uniforms, financial budgeting for all service centers, real estate analysis and manager of various special projects.
