Spartanburg Community College earns reaffirmation of accreditation

June 29, 2026

Spartanburg Community College (SCC) has received reaffirmation of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), extending the College’s accreditation for an additional 10 years.

The reaffirmation follows a comprehensive review process that evaluates institutions on academic quality, governance, financial stability, institutional effectiveness, student support, and compliance with accreditation standards.

According to College leadership, SCC received reaffirmation without any monitoring reports, conditions, or follow-up requirements.

Accreditation through SACSCOC assures students, employers, and the community that Spartanburg Community College meets rigorous standards of educational excellence and institutional effectiveness. Accreditation also enables SCC students to access federal financial aid and ensures that credits and credentials earned at the College are recognized by other institutions and employers.

The reaffirmation process included an extensive institutional review, documentation of compliance with accreditation standards, and evaluation of the College’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

SCC serves Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties through comprehensive transfer, career, technical, workforce development, and continuing education programs. The College remains focused on preparing students for successful careers, further education, and lifelong learning opportunities that support regional economic growth.
