Spartanburg Community College Foundation receives fundraising recognition from CASE

November 10, 2015

SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Community College Foundation was recently recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as one of the top 25 community colleges in the United States – and the only one from South Carolina – for most funds raised in the last five years in the category of full-time student enrollment of 2,000 to 4,999.

“We are delighted to accept this recognition from CASE, but it really speaks to the many donors who have generously given to the SCC Foundation over the years,” explains Sam Hook, SCC’s executive director of Advancement and the SCC Foundation. “We have been very fortunate to receive gifts from not only individuals and families, but grants and matching funds from many organizations that recognize the value of a community college education and the difference it makes in the lives of our citizens and the well being of our economy.

“Thanks to this generous financial support, we are even more empowered to continuously meet our mission of providing funds for student scholarships, faculty and staff development, curriculum upgrades and capital improvements,” adds Hook.

From 2010-2015, the SCC Foundation’s assets grew from $5,158,355 to $30,271,349.

“At a time when state and federal funding for the College is declining, we rely more and more on donations and grants to help us operate a financially sound college, so that we can then, in turn, provide outstanding educational programs and services to our community,” says Henry C. Giles, Jr., SCC president.
