Spartanburg Community College Receives 
Grant from Wells Fargo

SPARTANBURG, SC – May 2, 2012 – Spartanburg Community College (SCC) received a grant of $25,000 from Wells Fargo to establish a resource library at the Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development (CBED), a business incubator located at SCC’s Tyger River Campus in Duncan, SC.  


“Wells Fargo recognizes the importance of creating a support network for entrepreneurs,” said Mike Forrester, SCC’s director of economic development. “It is this support that allows start-up businesses to generate high-paying jobs in our community. We are fortunate to have such a forward-thinking bank like Wells Fargo as a partner in our Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development.”  


The new Wells Fargo Learning Resource Center offers SCC’s business incubator clients 540 square feet of office space that includes a library complete with reference materials on the ABC’s of starting, maintaining and growing a business, as well as office equipment that makes it easier to research markets and competitors. Grant funds also went towards expanding the CBED’s Workforce Service Area to include a 308 square foot, food-prep kitchen for clients to use for catered meetings and events.

CBED helps entrepreneurs and businesses launch, build, expand and reorganize successful companies. Located in a foreign trade zone, along the I-85 corridor on Highway 290 in Duncan, the 363,000 square foot Center offers programs and services that support start-up and expanding businesses by offering space for general office use, training, beta testing or inventory storage; assisting with the hiring process from job postings to post-employment training; and providing access to business advisors and resources.
