Spartanburg Community College to Host March Open House Month at all SCC Campuses

March 2, 2015

SPARTANBURG, SC – Spartanburg Community College (SCC) will host free open house events each Tuesday afternoon throughout the month of March from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at all SCC campuses in Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee counties. The events are open to students, parents and career seekers interested in SCC’s academic programs.

“Anyone interested in attending college, starting a new career or gaining professional development skills is invited to our open house events to learn about SCC’s academic program offerings, tour the campus and speak to faculty members about specific programs and career opportunities,” says Luke Black, SCC’s director of recruiting. “Current SCC students will be available to share their first-hand experiences and answer questions about attending SCC as well as faculty and staff who can provide information about specific programs of study, career opportunities and more.”

Each Tuesday afternoon throughout March guests can visit SCC locations from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. as follows:

  • March 3 – SCC central campus – Spartanburg
  • March 10 – SCC Cherokee County Campus – Gaffney
  • March 17 – SCC Downtown Campus – Spartanburg
  • March 24 – SCC Tyger River Campus – Duncan
  • March 31 – Union County Advanced Technology Center – Union

Guests can also attend information sessions that focus on the admissions and financial aid processes, as well as support services that help students make the most of their educational experience, such as career planning, counseling, student disability services, student activities, advising and tutoring. Attendees will also be eligible for door prizes, including SCC t-shirts and a $500 scholarship from the SCC Foundation

Representatives from BMW and Michelin will also be available to provide information and answer questions about the Technical Scholars Program – a unique opportunity that allows students to work part-time while attending classes full-time at SCC. Students gain hands-on experience and become viable candidates for full-time positions at BMW and Michelin.
