Spartanburg Community Health Awareness Day (CHAD) returns on June 1

May 23, 2024

The highly anticipated Spartanburg Community Health Awareness Day (CHAD) is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Carver Middle School located at 467 S. Church Street in Spartanburg. This free, community-wide event offers an array of services, resources, entertainment, and activities for all ages in one convenient location.

The event will kick off with a 5k health awareness walk scheduled to start at 7:45 AM with warm-up exercises. From 8:00 to 11:00 AM, attendees can participate in various health education sessions, listen to engaging speakers, enjoy line dancing, and access over 55 community resource vendors. There will also be activities designed specifically for kids and seniors.

Attendees will receive free breakfast and lunch:
– Denny’s breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00 AM.
– Lean Kitchen Lunch from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Starting at 8:00 AM, attendees can take advantage of numerous free health screenings, including blood pressure, hearing, vision, dental, and more.

This event is a collaborative effort involving key community partners such as Live Healthy Spartanburg, the Greater Spartanburg Divine Nine, ReGenesis Health Care, and United Way of the Piedmont.

JaLisa Jordan, Program Manager at Live Healthy Spartanburg, shares, “We are thrilled that this event allows us to bring resources and providers to the community and offer screenings completely free. This event is once a year but allows residents to be connected to a medical home with our partners at ReGenesis Health Care to receive various routine health care services if needed. We hope to obtain a healthier Spartanburg by removing one barrier at a time!”

A special thank you to the presenting sponsors for making this event possible: City of Spartanburg, Denny’s, Greater Spartanburg Divine Nine, Live Healthy Spartanburg, ReGenesis Health Care, and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
