Spartanburg Day School Hires Wakefield
December 12, 2010SPARTANBURG, SC – December 11, 2010 – Jenny Wakefield has joined the Development Office of Spartanburg Day School and will be managing communications and public relations for the school. A lifelong resident of Spartanburg, Jenny graduated from University of South Carolina with a BA in Education, and earned her M. Ed in Gifted Education from Converse College.
Jenny is no stranger to Spartanburg. She is a past President of The Junior League of Spartanburg, The Ellen Hines Smith Girls’ Home, and Ballet Spartanburg. She has also served on numerous other local and state boards such as Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve, The Spartanburg Little Theatre, The Episcopal Church of the Advent’s Church women’s executive committee, and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. Jenny is also a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg and Spartanburg Regional’s Regional Fellows. Jenny worked for Bill Barnet during his term as Mayor of Spartanburg and most recently has been working as a Real Estate agent in residential and commercial sales with the W. Lewis white Co., Inc.
Jenny is happily married to her husband Jay an SDS graduate, Class of 1980. They have three very active children. Anne Townsend is a freshman at SDS, and her sons Walker and Brownlee are in the 4th and 6th grades. She loves spending time with her family, sailing, hiking, fishing, and working in her yard.
