Specific Chiropractic celebrates 10 years serving the Midlands

October 11, 2019

No one questions that a safe building needs a strong, secure foundation. When a shift or damage happens, problems arise and the floors creak, doors stick and the walls crack. Those same problems happen to the body when its foundation – the spine – shifts or experiences damage.

That structural shift in the spine is the focus of Dr. Scott Allen’s clinic, Specific Chiropractic. This year, he is celebrating 10 years of practice in the Midlands and remains eager to share the distinction of how he helps improve his patients’ quality of life.

Structural Chiropractic focuses on the source of the problems – the structural shift – not simply relieving the symptoms. If the source of the problem isn’t corrected, the solutions are only bandages or short-term fixes for the resulting pain, immobility or muscle spasms.

The Specific Chiropractic approach looks for a significant three-dimensional shift of the body’s structural system, with an emphasis on the upper cervical spine. The upper cervical spine is vital because it involves the brainstem and spinal cord. Structural problems in this area are especially complicated and more difficult to resolve.

It’s not realistic for anyone to have perfect structure. But if someone’s body is out of the normal structural range, it must constantly fight gravity and other forces. Simply standing, walking, running or working become more difficult. Over time, damage can occur to spinal bones, ligaments, discs, muscles, tendons and more. This body damage – or structural shift – leads to discomfort and even chronic pain.

The spine also houses the body’s nerve system, which sends and receives signals from all parts of the body. When these signals are altered, the normal function of the body is disrupted. That can cause headaches, dizziness, numbness, fibromyalgia, acid reflux or other symptoms.

Our approach is to address that structural shift, not the discomfort. Rather than constantly repairing damage, Specific Chiropractic focuses on fixing the underlying foundation and helping the spine reach its normal structure.

If someone’s house has foundation issues, they work with a specialist to correct the core problem rather than patching the walls. If their body has significant structural problems, a focused, structural approach is needed. Structural problems require structural solutions.

Specific Chiropractic can provide the long-term solution, one that can be felt and see firsthand. And, once the foundation has been fixed, we’ll teach our patients how to keep it that way.

“There are a wide variety of treatment options offered by both medical and alternative health providers,” said Dr. Scott Allen. “Our goal is to teach you all of your options so that you can make the best decision for your own health care.”
