Spicing Up Service: Mauldin High Student Council Hosts Inaugural Chili Cook-Off Benefiting Washington Center
November 2, 2026Mauldin High School’s Student Council is inviting the community to bring their appetites and competitive recipes to the table this weekend for its first-ever Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, November 7.
The community event will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the River Walk Clubhouse, located at 103 River Walk Blvd. in Simpsonville.
Designed as a family-friendly afternoon of autumn food and competition, the cook-off features a mix of culinary rivalry and casual tailgating fun. Attendees can watch sports on displayed televisions, participate in games of cornhole, and sample an array of homemade chilis prepared by local teams. At the end of the day, top culinary bragging rights will be awarded, with the winning cook-off team taking home an official trophy.
Beyond the kitchen face-off, the event carries a charitable mission. All proceeds raised from team registrations and admission tastings will directly benefit the Washington Center, a Greenville County public school facility dedicated to serving students with severe intellectual and physical disabilities.
Tasting admission is open to the public for $10 per person, allowing guests to sample entries and cast their votes. Cook teams can enter the competition for a $25 entry fee. Those interested in registering a chili team can sign up via the student council’s online registration form here.
