Spoleto Festival USA to partner with area restaurants for Spoleto Signature Cocktail Campaign, #SpoletoSips

May 19, 2017

Menus to include Festival-inspired beverages from May 22 to June 11

In celebration of Spoleto Festival USA’s 2017 season, 14 Charleston restaurants have created Festival-inspired cocktails that will appear on menus May 22 throughout the Festival’s run, ending June 11. Additionally, select restaurants will honor Festival ticket holders with special savings on the purchase of one Festival featured cocktail (exact pricing is at each location’s discretion).

The restaurants—including such lauded establishments as McCrady’s Tavern, Zero Restaurant + Bar, and The Macintosh—were chosen for their proximity to Festival venues, including Dock Street Theatre, College of Charleston Cistern Yard, Charleston Gaillard Center, and the Woolfe Street Playhouse, among others, and many of the featured drinks correspond with specific performances at the nearby theaters. Beverages include Zero Restaurant + Bar’s Black Rabbit, referencing jazz luminary Charles Lloyd; 5Church Charleston’s Lucky of the Irish, inspired by Druid’s production of Waiting for Godot; and McCrady’s Tavern’s Contratto en Travesti, which pays homage to the US premiere of Vivaldi’s opera, Farnace. A full list of participating locations and cocktails follows; additional details can be found at spoletousa.org.

Says Director of Marketing and Public Relations Jessie Bagley: “Our initial goal was to get the broader community involved and excited about the Festival, and the results have been overwhelmingly positive. The mixologists created such imaginative drinks influenced by the wide range of opera, dance, theater, and music programming, and we are thrilled to encourage Festival-goers to experience some of Charleston’s vibrant restaurant scene.” Recipes are available upon request.
