Sportsclub Fitness & Wellness turning back the clocks to 1984 this June

June 3, 2024

In honor of the 40th anniversary of its parent company, acac Fitness & Wellness Centers, Sportsclub Fitness & Wellness is
celebrating 1984-style next month with some tubular events from the decade of the Cola Wars.

“We wanted to have some fun with the 40th anniversary of acac, and we go back in time with some of our events and styles,” said Kelly Brogdon, Regional Marketing Director for SportsClub. “The hope is to have some fun celebrating while promoting healthier lifestyles for our members and for the community.”

The celebration starts on Friday, June 7, when all of the group fitness classes at all three locations will be 80’s themed, where members and guests are encouraged to break out their leotards, legwarmers and headbands during their sessions. The first Friday of each month is “Friendly Friday,” so members are encouraged to bring a guest at no charge. There will be raffles for prizes
throughout the day.

On Friday, June 14th, Sportsclub Greenville, 712 Congaree Road, will be hosting an 80s-themed tennis social where participants are asked to dress like 1980s tennis stars such as John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, and Martina Navritalova. Guests are welcomed for a guest rate club use fee of $15. There will be pizza and beverages as well.

The final wind-back-the-clock event will be the Sportsclub DynoMight Strength & Endurance Competition on June 22nd from 9 am-1 pm at Sportsclub Greenville, 712 Congaree Road. Competitors will take part in bench press, deadlift, planking, and stair climbing challenges in both men’s and women’ divisions. Winners will receive prizes such as Beats Headphones, Sportsclub memberships, and an REI gift card, to name a few. Wearing short shorts will not add to scoring. Each event is $10 to enter, and all proceeds will be donated to local charity, Defenders for Children.

All of these events are open to the public. Learn more by clicking on the 2024 Sportsclub Activities Calendar at https://sportsclubsc.com/news-updates.
