Aston Properties makes significant investment in historic shopping location

Aston Properties of Charlotte announced today that Sprouts Farmers Market, a healthy grocer featuring natural and organic products, will open a store in the North Hills Shopping Center on Greenville’s Eastside.

The arrival of Sprouts is part of a multi-million-dollar investment Aston Properties is making to re-imagine the property near the corner of Pleasantburg Drive and East North Street. Upgrades to North Hills Shopping Center, originally built in 1975, will include updated facades, landscaping, patios, and storefronts plus parking lot repairs to enhance the shopping center.

Aston has a unique opportunity to breathe new life into a shopping center that has been an integral part of the Eastside community for nearly 50 years. In addition to the new Sprouts Farmers Market, the center is home to UFC Gym and several restaurants and retail shops, including Golden Llama, the UPS Store, El Molcajete, Korean Bulgogi, Oscar Nail Spa, Venus Beauty Supply, and Boost Mobile.

Construction of the approximately 25,000-square-foot Sprouts at North Hills is scheduled to begin this year and the store is slated to open in 2024. Sprouts opened a Simpsonville store in 2018.

“We are thrilled to open our second location in the Greenville market, bringing to the community a wide selection of quality healthy products that cater to any dietary needs,” said David McGlinchey, chief strategy officer of Sprouts. “Sprouts offers fresh seasonal produce, custom-cut meats, vitamins and supplements, ready-to-eat meals, dietary options such as gluten-free or paleo, and thousands of other natural, organic, non-GMO, vegan and plant-based products. We can’t wait for our Greenville neighbors to see the new store.”

Aston Properties President and CEO George S. Dewey IV said the company is proud to partner with Sprouts and thrilled to enhance the center for existing tenants and attract exciting new tenants to the currently available shop spaces at North Hills.

“Aston Properties is built on more than four decades creating enduring relationships with grocers, other tenants at our properties, and surrounding communities,” Dewey said. “We look forward to working with the great team at Sprouts.”

Aston Properties Managing Director, Barnes Connell, said the company sees great opportunity in the Greenville market and is excited to invest in North Hills and Aston’s other Greenville-area properties.
