Stage Door is building serious summer programming for young performers in Mount Pleasant

Stage Door Arts Academy is raising the bar for summer arts education with the launch of its Summer Intensive Series, a lineup of immersive training experiences designed for dedicated young performers looking to grow their skills, confidence, and stage presence.
Taking place throughout June and July, the series features three distinct intensives focused on different disciplines, giving students the opportunity to train across multiple styles while staying close to home in the Carolina Park community.
“These intensives are about more than just dance classes,” said Owners Amy Toresco and Jen Skovron. “They are about giving students a space to push themselves, try new styles, and feel what it’s like to truly train as a performer.”
POM & ACRO INTENSIVE | June 15–19
This high-energy week blends strength, flexibility, and performance through pom and acro training.
Ages 8–12: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Ages 13+: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Designed for athletes and dancers alike, this intensive focuses on control, power, and dynamic movement.
BALLET & CONTEMPORARY INTENSIVE | July 13–17
A technique-driven experience focused on artistry, control, and expression.
Ages 10+: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Students will refine foundational ballet technique while exploring contemporary movement in a more expressive, modern format.
5 STYLES: ONE STAGE INTENSIVE | July 20–24
A comprehensive, multi-style training experience including:
Contemporary
Hip Hop
Jazz
Musical Theater
Technique & Conditioning
Ages 10+: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
This intensive is designed for well-rounded dancers who want exposure to multiple styles in one immersive week.
Located in Mount Pleasant’s Carolina Park, Stage Door Arts Academy continues to grow as a go-to destination for families seeking high-quality performing arts training without the commute.
