SUMMERVILLE, SC -The American Council of Engineering Companies of South Carolina (ACEC-SC) held its 2016 Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on February 2, 2016. Stantec won an Engineering Excellence Award in the Studies, Research, and Consulting category for Hutchinson Square Master Plan.

The Hutchinson Square Master Plan provides strategies to improve walkability, enhance access to civic destinations, increase safety, provide open space and visibility for events, and protect the existing grand live oaks. A greenspace since the 1880s, Hutchinson Square’s new master plan will honor its historic roots while enhancing the downtown atmosphere. The Master Plan also upgraded lighting, utilities, drainage, and parking. It will be completed in five phases at an estimated budget of $2,300,000 million.

Jenny Horne, PLA, ASLA project manager for Hutchinson Square said, “Our team is excited to help the Town of Summerville plan for the renovation of their historic park within the downtown urban core. The park is so widely used by the community and through the master plan, we will be giving back to the Town the historic fabric while providing the residents and visitors alike more opportunities to gather within the core of the park.”
