State Chamber honors Rep. Gregory Duckworth with Business Advocate Award

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce released the following statement after recognizing Representative Gregory Duckworth (R-Horry) with the 2015 Business Advocate Award. This award was given to members of the General Assembly based upon performance on votes tracked by our 2015 Legislative Scorecard.
South Carolina Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ted Pitts said, “The State Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize Rep. Duckworth for his commitment to advancing issues that make South Carolina a better place for business. Much like 2015, the two most critical issues facing our state remain improving infrastructure and providing every South Carolinian the necessary education and training to succeed in today’s workforce. Rep. Duckworth was a key partner in advancing these issues in 2015 and we look forward to working with him this year to continue that momentum.”
Background
Each legislative session, the Chamber tracks roll call votes on key business issues and tallies them to determine an overall score for each member of the General Assembly. This year, the Chamber weighted the issues on importance to the business climate and economic competitiveness. In 2015, the Chamber tracked key votes on infrastructure, workforce development, tort reform, workers’ compensation reform and unsafe used tires.
