Statement from Mayor Joseph Riley on the City of Charleston Fire Department

“The City of Charleston Fire Department having earned the Accredited status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International is a huge achievement for our Fire Department and for the City.

This is a result of the excellent leadership of Chief Karen Brack and the very hard work of the members of our City of Charleston Fire Department with the support of our City Council. The accreditation process is thorough, detailed and difficult. 

The City of Charleston, this year, received the Insurance Service Office (ISO) Class 1 rating.  With this accreditation, it makes the City of Charleston Fire Department one of only twenty-two fire departments in the United States to receive both accreditation and an ISO Class 1 rating.

I could not be prouder of Chief Brack and members of our Fire Department.”
