October 27, 2026

SteelFab Inc., a Charlotte-based steel fabrication company, announced plans to expand its South Carolina operations with a $30 million investment in Richland County that will create 100 new jobs.

The company engineers, manufactures and supplies fabricated structural steel and steel products for the construction industry. SteelFab operates 18 facilities across the United States, including four existing locations in South Carolina.

The new facility, located at 1030 Metso Way in Columbia, will expand SteelFab’s manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its ability to serve the growing construction industry.

“This investment represents another significant milestone in SteelFab’s continued growth and commitment to South Carolina,” said Rob Rutherford, chief operating officer of SteelFab. “For nearly four decades, we have been proud to be part of South Carolina’s manufacturing community, and the establishment of our new Columbia facility builds on that strong foundation.”

Operations at the new facility are expected to begin by the end of 2026.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to the project.
