March 22, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – The Lead Teacher, Dr. Sally Catoe, will be honored and receive a plaque at the Magnet Schools of America’s 33rd National Conference hosted by Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh, NC April 22-25, 2015.

“We are very proud of the quality and popularity of the STEMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) magnet program at North Springs. STEMS has been a magnet option in Richland Two for the last six years. The program has grown to be one of the most requested elementary magnet programs in the district and has been recognized four times by MSA.” – Dr. David Holzendorf

To receive a merit award, MSA member schools must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create community partnerships that enhance the school’s theme.

Todd S. Mann, Executive Director of Magnet Schools of America, and MSA President Doreen Marvin will present the award on Friday, April 24. To learn more about the national merit awards program, visit www.magnet.edu
