Steri-Clean® franchise opens first South Carolina location

March 8, 2017

Steri-Clean®, the award winning company helping to reduce the trauma associated with the difficult task of cleaning crime and trauma scenes, infectious diseases and hoarding homes, today announced the upcoming opening of its first South Carolina location. Steri-Clean, established in 1995 by Cory Chalmers, the TV Star and lead expert of the hit cable television show “Hoarders,” is operated and owned locally by husband and wife team Kristen and Martin Folding. Steri-Clean South Carolina is set to open this April in Columbia.

At Steri-Clean, a professional, kind and caring staff work to help millions of people across the country perform the unthinkable and the impossible, not only restoring their homes but also restoring their lives. Steri-Clean is known as the industry leader for biohazard services. Steri-Clean contracts directly with law enforcement agencies and fire departments to provide affordable, efficient and quick emergency vehicle and equipment, jail/holding cell and evidence room cleanup. In addition, Steri-Clean has numerous hoarding cleanup options, which range from a complete clean out of clutter, to organizing and recovering items of importance. Hoarding remediation is a specialized service, which requires particular skills and qualities to achieve a successful result for homeowners and their families.

Franchise owners Kristen and Martin Folding are long-time Columbia residents. Kristen is a veteran in the healthcare industry with over a decade in the management role. Martin recently retired with over 25 years in law enforcement and over 30 years in public safety. Their backgrounds gave them a firsthand look into hoarding homes and, upon speaking to founder Cory Chalmers, realized their calling to help others restore their lives.

“The motto of Steri-Clean is ‘restoring lives and homes,’ which really resonated with us,” said Martin Folding, franchise co-owner. “We see it as our responsibility to help those in hoarding cases by providing them with a safe and functional house once again. In times of tragedy, no one should have to worry about cleaning up the scene. In both cases, we always go beyond the physical work to connect the after-care people may need, as well as continuing to check up on them after our job is finished.”

To support the Columbia location, the local owners are looking to expand their team with part-time biohazard cleanup employment opportunities beginning immediately. No previous experience is required and all training is conducted through the business. The owners are open to hiring throughout the state of South Carolina to meet all jobsite needs.

Steri-Clean Inc. offers franchises with two divisions: a hoarding remediation division called Steri-Clean (www.hoarders.com) and a Biohazard cleanup division called Crime-Scene Steri-Clean (www.crime-cleaners.com). Other Steri-Clean services include suicide cleanup, pet cleanup, traffic accident cleanup and more.

Steri-Clean Columbia is located at 120 Kaminer Way, Columbia, SC 29210. The business is already operating in the Columbia market, throughout the state of South Carolina and into North Carolina. The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening with a community event in early April.
