Steve West Appointed to SC Technology & Aviation Center Board of Directors

GREENVILLE, SC – June 1, 2011 – Steve West, 20-year veteran of the Upstate’s economic development success, joins the South Carolina Technology & Aviation Center (SCTAC) Board of Directors today.   West, Economic Development Manager at Duke Power Company, was appointed by the Greenville County Council.

“Steve’s extensive experience within the Upstate’s workforce and economic development arena, as well as industry recruitment, offer another positive and welcome perspective in enhancing SCTAC’s vision of becoming the Southeast’s regional leader of industry and technological  advancement,” says John Hopkins, Chairman of the SCTAC Board of Directors.

As a South Carolina Certified Economic Developer, West is a member of the Upstate South Carolina Alliance, Worklink Workforce Investment Board, Laurens County Development Corporation and the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association. West, who celebrated his 25th anniversary with Duke Power Company last year, is a registered professional engineer in both South Carolina and North Carolina.

Jointly owned by the City of Greenville and Greenville County, the SCTAC Board of Directors consists of three Greenville County representatives, three City of Greenville representatives and one member-at-large.  Steve West will join Liz Seman and John Hopkins, Chairman, as the representatives for Greenville County.  The City of Greenville representatives consist of Don Nickell, Lillian Flemming and Anne Ellefson.  Allen Inglesby serves as the member-at-large.
