Straight Street of Laurens Announces New Executive Director

Straight Street of Laurens has announced the selection of Mr. Van Tumblin as their next Executive Director, effective immediately.

Van is a native of Laurens County and the owner of Tumblin Automotive since 2001. Along with his wife Keri, Van is looking forward to opening the center soon and sharing the Gospel with the youth in our community. “We look forward to serving the youth in the community.” said Van Tumblin.

The center has been closed since the announcement on November 8th of the retirement of Wayne French who served as Executive Director.

Straight Street originally opened almost 29 years ago but has been closed since 2022. The center was closed in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid and then re-opened for a short time in 2022 until the former director resigned after more than 10 years with Straight Street.

Straight Street is located at 220 West Main Street and the center is open on Friday and Saturday nights from 7-11 pm. All 7th-12th graders are welcome at the center. Straight Street is undergoing a few renovations and will be announcing a re-opening date soon.
