Student artists express ‘healing’

The Columbia Museum of Art and Lexington Medical Center recently recognized four Lexington District One students’ artistic abilities in their annual Art of Healing showcase. The competition highlights students’ artistic expression of healing through drawings, paintings, photographs or sculptures.
The Columbia Museum of Art first displayed the winning artwork featuring the artistic contributions of Lexington County high school students chosen through a contest. Lexington Medical Center currently displays the winning entries in their North Tower Atrium.
Four Lexington District One students took awards in this showcase.
Gilbert High Junior Lindsay Bess Hislop took third place overall for her photograph “What is Family.”
Lexington High Junior Taylan Salisbury’s photograph, “Issues We Face,” and White Knoll High Senior Emily Diane Cooper’s photograph, “No Mere Trinkets,” received Juror’s Choice awards.
Lexington High Senior Morgan Gwen Gavin’s drawing, “Diversity,” won an Honorable Mention.
