Student Committee Receives Outstanding Delegation Award

March 19, 2010

GREENVILLE, SC – March 19, 2010 – Greenville Technical College students Zach Carlin and Scott Tennant received an outstanding delegation award for their committee at the Model Arab League conference held March 12-14 at Converse College in Spartanburg.

This conference allows college students to learn about and compete as representatives from member states of the Arab League. Carlin and Tennant represented Eritrea, an observer state that, for the purposes of the competition, had no power or vote on substantive issues.

The Greenville Tech students competed against delegates from Kennesaw State, Georgia State, Mercer, Converse, and Northeastern, all teams considered powerhouses in the Model Arab League circuit.

I am very proud of our students, said Dr. Beth Traxler, Greenville Tech political science instructor and adviser to the competing students. I wish I had clones of them in all the committees. They are wonderful people and the kind of students you just love to be around!
